KRISTIN VOORHEES

 

Kristin was a prominent athlete during her stint at Steinert High School Hamilton, New Jersey from 1994-1998. She earned the 12 varsity letter award and Spartan of the Year Award as a senior, by excelling in soccer, basketball and track and field.

Kristin was an All Conference, All State and a Mercer "33" goal keeper selection for the Central Jersey Group 3 Champion Steinert Girls Soccer team in 1996. Kristin kept her speed and strength during track season, as she climbed into the record books at SHS by breaking the school's shot put record and winning the Mercer County title in '96. Starting Varsity as a freshman at SHS, she was named to various all-star teams and All Conference selections during her four year career. For all of these accomplishments she has been inducted to The Steinert High School Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2010.

In 1996 seeking to improve her post play, she became Ron Simpson's first Individual client. His assistance over the next two years gave Kristin the edge to improve and was awarded a basketball scholarship to Division 2 West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where she played soccer and basketball.

As a freshman she was given an opportunity, and never looked back. Concluding that basketball season, she was named Most Improved Player. After her junior year she was awarded the Carol Eckman Scholarship Award given to the player who best exemplifies the sportsmanship and dedication for which Carol Eckman stood. Kristin was named MVP of the Carol Eckman Tournament in 2001 and named to the PSAC First Team All Conference for the 2001-2002 season. Off the court Kristin excelled in the class room getting named the Athletic Director's Honor roll and to Dean's list a plethora of times. She also held the esteemed positions of President of the Student Athletic Advisory Board, a PSAC representative and a member of the Athletic Advisory Board at West Chester University.

Kristin's knowledge of the game doesn't just stop there, as she pursued her Masters of Science in Athletic Administration she was a Volunteer Assistant Coach and Strength Coach for WCU. Following her time at WCU, she went to Slippery Rock University and served as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Once concluding that season, Kristin turned to High School Girl's Basketball and was the Assistant Girl's Basketball Coach at Stuart Country Day School, and currently serves as the Assistant Girl's Varsity Coach at West Windsor Plainsboro North. She also coaches Field Hockey and Boy's Volleyball. Kristin has maintained involvement with girl's and boy's basketball in Mercer County and is a part of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Board #193. Kristin teaches in West Windsor Plainsboro and resides in Pennington, NJ.
